Jenni Gerrard shows her Dutch visitors round the stillroom at Tullibardine 1488 distillery |
That's where the whisky
vapour goes, up over the lyne arm to the condenser. |
Crescens Akkermans is a
publisher of whisky books in Holland, so he knows a bit about the subject and has a few questions to ask Jenni. |
In the warehouse there was an opportunity to nose some very rare whiskies drawn straight from the cask. The one on the left was a 1987 bourbon cask, and on the right is the 1966
sherry cask (also pictured). The contrast in colour was remarkable. |

In the tasting room, Jenni Gerrard gave her Dutch visitors the chance to taste some very special Tullibardine malts. They included a superb Port Wood finish, a most unusual
Marsala wine finish, the Distillery Manager's Choice - a Tullibardine vintage 1986 single cask, and a rare Tullibardine 1973 vintage matured in a sherry butt. |
We can strongly recommend a tour of Tullibardine 1488. It is on the A9 at Blackford, about 15 miles before Perth. Best to plan your visit in advance,
and stop for lunch and visit the new retail shopping park. Tel. 01764 682252 or visit the website |
