Whisky Classified at IFCS 2004, IIT Chicago
Whisky Classified will be presented at the 2004 biennial conference of the International Federation of Classification Societies (IFCS), to be hosted by the Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago, USA on July 14-19, 2004.
The IFCS 2004 organisers expect around 250 delegates plus accompanying persons to attend, from the participating classification societies of the United States, Canada, Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Belgium, Netherlands, Denmark, Ireland, Portugal, Japan, Korea, Central America and Caribbean.
We plan to present a Whisky Classified seminar and tutored tasting hosted by Dr. David Wishart as a plenary event directly before the conference dinner, on Saturday 18 July for an estimated 150 delegates. David Wishart's classification of single malt whiskies by flavour will be described in a 30-minute PowerPoint presentation, to be following by a tutored tasting of around 20 single malt whiskies that illustrate the spectrum of flavours to be found in Scotch whiskey.
David Wishart's classification of single malt whiskies was first presented at CSNA 2000 hosted by the University of Montréal in June 2000; and at IFCS 2000, hosted by the Belgian and Dutch Classification Societies at Namur University, Belgium in July 2000. It was accompanied by a tutored whisky tasting for 125 delegates and published in the conference proceedings by Springer.
