"Whisky Classified: Choosing Single Malt Whiskies by Flavour" is to be presented in the historic 16th century oak-panelled Lindsay Room of Kilconquhar Castle, near Elie in Fife, at 6pm on Monday 21st July.
Discover the flavours of Scotch malt whiskies at this talk and tasting hosted by Dr. David Wishart, Scottish academic and author of "Whisky Classified: Choosing Single Malts by Flavour ".
Dubbed the "Carl Linnaeus" of whisky by fellow expert and writer Charles Maclean, David Wishart was the first to categorize single malts by their flavour and his classification is now fully endorsed by the Scotch Whisky Industry. On arrival, you will be offered David's new "Whisky Cooler", and there will be a whisky quiz with a prize for the winner.
David will guide you through the history and production of Scotch malt whiskies, describing his unique scientific classification by flavour, with a selection of malts to taste and a poem to end …
He has chosen some well-known favourite malts to taste, and also a couple that are hard to find – Ardbeg 10yo, Bunnahabhain 12yo, Dalmore 12yo, Edradour 10yo, Glenlivet 12 yo, Highland Park 12yo and Old Pulteney 12yo. They span the range of flavours of single malt whiskies, as described in David's book.
It will also be possible for you and your guests to purchase signed copies of David's book, if you wish.
Why not invite your friends, and combine David's talk at 6pm with dinner in the White Cockade at 8 (table bookings advised). Further information on Kilconquhar Castle can be found here
