Wonderful World of Whisky Dinners at the Cluny Bank Hotel, Forres

We will be returning to Speyside for the 2005 Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival, Friday 29th April - Sunday 1st May, 2004 at the Cluny Bank Hotel, 69 St. Leonard's Road, Forres.

Whisky Classified will again be illustrated by a sponsored malt whisky tasting, followed by a whisky-themed gourmet dinner created by resident chef Alan Gibb.  In addition, on Saturday 1st May David Wishart will be hosting a special whisky tasting of rare and unusual malt whiskies at Glen Moray Distillery, Elgin.

Resident Chef Alan Gibb and Whisky Writer David Wishart have again teamed up to provide more mouth-watering, candle-lit, gourmet whisky-themed dinners for the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival 2005. 

The evening begins with a welcome aperitif on the terrace, under a setting Speyside sun - this year we will serve two Thorncroft whisky coolers - the Chivas Regal "Red Red Rose" and Cutty Sark "Pink Ginger", using Thorncroft Cordials.  This is followed by a five-course gourmet dinner and freshly-brewed coffee.  With each course a different malt whisky will be incorporated in the soup, sauce or cream, and a generous glass of the same malt whisky will be served alongside.

The malt whiskies have been specially selected to complement each dish, and to illustrate the range of cardinal flavours described in Whisky Classified.  David Wishart guides you through the flavours, adding notes on the character of each malt and its history.  Diners will also be able to purchase signed copies of David Wishart's  book - Whisky Classified: Choosing Single Malts by Flavour, now alaso available in Dutch, Danish and Swedish.

Distillers that support David's work have contributed all the whiskies used in the soups, sauces, creams, ice-creams and for the tutored tasting.  The sponsored whiskies and cordials to be presented at the Cluny Bank Hotel this year are: Balblair 10yo, Benromach 15yo, Chivas Regal 12yo, Cutty Sark Scots Whisky, Dalmore 10yo, Dunkeld Atholl Brose Liqueur, Glenfarclas 12yo, Glenfiddich Solera Reserve 15yo, Glenrothes 1992, Glenturret 10yo, Highland Park 12yo, Springbank 10yo and Tullibardine 1993; and for the coolers - Thorncroft Cranbury & Hibiscus Cordial and Thorncroft Pink Ginger Cordial.
